~ Ferrero supports children globally through its Kinder+Sport initiative to lead an active life ~
Pune: With the Indian badminton contingent making us all proud at the recently concluded Commonweath Games 2018, the action continues on the court. This time it is the effort of the International Sports Federation (ISF) along with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in association with Kinder+Sport showcasing the best badminton talent amongst the boys and girls globally.
Kinder+Sport partnership with International Sports Federation (ISF) has been a long standing relationship, sharing values of friendship, fair play and fun globally, since 2005. Along with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) this year, Kinder+Sport and ISF will present the international school badminton tournament to be held in Pune, India.
Around 240 children from 15 countries will be participating in the tournament. The tournament will kick start with the opening ceremony on 20th April and continue for 5 days at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. All the participants from across the world schools between the age 15 to 17 years are representing their countries such as Bulgaria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Greece, Georgia, Italy, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, India ‘A’ and India ‘B’. The championship will also see the participation of 64 coaches, 32 managers along with 80 umpires and technical officials.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Ms. Medha Kulkarni, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly and Chirag Shetty, Silver medalist at the Commonweath Games 2018 for badminton at the event was an inspiration for the young participants. The other dignitaries present at the occasion were Mr. Sunil Kendrekar, Commissioner of Sports & Youth, Pune and Mr. Shrawan Hardikar, Municipal Commissioner, Pimpri-Chinchwad along with Mr. Inder Chopra, Secretary General, Ferrero India along with representatives from ISF and SGFI.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Inder Chopra at Ferrero India said, “The event is supported by Kinder+Sport, the Ferrero Group CSR initiative which aims at bringing the ‘Joy of Moving’ amongst the young badminton players. We are extremely elated to partner with ISF as it solidifies our commitment to raise awareness among the youth to adopt an active lifestyle. Mr. Chopra added, “The Kinder+Sport project encourages physical activity across the younger generations, inspiring them to adopt active lifestyles to make it an integral part of their daily routine.”
Mr. Gaurav Dixit, Director School Games Federation of India expressed his thoughts, “School Games Federation of India is all set to host World School Championship of Badminton here in Pune, India. After successful commencement of KHELO INDIA- SCHOOL GAMES, we are going International, hosting many international events this year. It is the first time India is hosting the Badminton World School championship. Looking forward to a great and successful event.”
