The National Stock Exchange (NSE), India’s largest stock exchange by turnover, on Friday named Vikram Limaye, Managing Director of IDFC, as the new Managing Director.
Vikram Limaye is the Managing Director & CEO of IDFC Limited. He started his professional career with Arthur Andersen in Mumbai in 1987 while pursuing his Chartered Accountancy and worked in the audit and business advisory services groups of Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young and the consumer banking group of Citibank before going to the US in 1994 to pursue a MBA. After completing his MBA, he worked on Wall Street in USA for 8 years with Credit Suisse First Boston in a variety of roles in investment banking, capital markets, structured finance and credit portfolio management before returning to Mumbai, India in 2004.
He has contributed to various committees of government and industry associations on a range of topics surrounding infrastructure, economic policy, markets, trade, minority affairs etc. He has been a speaker at various domestic and international conferences and been part of international government delegations for infrastructure and foreign direct investments into India.
He completed his Bachelors in Commerce from HR College of Commerce & Economics, Chartered Accountancy and a MBA in Finance and Multinational Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Mr. Vikram Mukund Limaye has been the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at IDFC Limited since May 1, 2013. Mr. Limaye served as Deputy Managing Director of IDFC Limited since May 25, 2012 until May 01, 2013. He served at Credit Suisse First Boston for eight years in a variety of roles in investment banking, capital markets, structured finance and credit portfolio management. Mr. Limaye served as the Co-Head of the North American Credit Portfolio. His prior experiences include working with global consumer banking group at Citibank N.A. and business advisory services group at Ernst & Young. Mr. Limaye started his corporate career at Arthur Andersen.
He has been with IDFC since March 2005 and has been instrumental in transforming the organisation from a project finance and government advisory firm to a premier diversified financial services organisation. He served as the Chairman of IDFC Securities Limited. He has been an Administrator at Board of Control for Cricket in India since January 30, 2017. He has been a Director of IDFC Private Equity and IDFC Asset Management Company Limited since April 27, 2011. Mr. Limaye has been a Whole Time Director of IDFC Limited since September 15, 2008. He has been a Non-Executive Independent Director of eClerx Services Limited since August 11, 2007. He has been a Non-Executive Director of Philips India Limited since March 28, 2014. He serves as a Director of IDFC Group companies. He serves as a Director of Human Value Developers Private Limited, IDFC Bank Limited, IDFC Capital Limited, IDFC Investment Advisors Limited, IDFC Pension Fund Management Company Limited, IDFC Infrastructure, IDFC Projects Limited, IDFC Trustee Company Limited, Orbis Capital Limited and Sharekhan Limited. He served as the Chairman of IDFC AMC Trustee Company Private Limited. Mr. Limaye served as a Director of STCI Finance Limited until August 1, 2013. He served as a Director of Asset Reconstruction Company (India) Limited. He served as a Director of North American Credit Portfolio. He has been on various boards. He is a Member of the Governing Council of University of Pennsylvania Institute for the Advanced Study of India. He is also on the Advisory Boards of Sanmar Group, Kae Capital, Antarang Foundation and Indian School of Business (Punj Lloyd Institute of Infrastructure Management).
He has 25 years of experience working with Financial Institutions, Global Investment Banks, International Commercial Banks and Global Accounting firms. Mr. Limaye has broad-based experience across various areas of the financial services landscape. He is part of the Young President Organization (YPO) and was awarded the Banking and Financial Services Industry Leader award by the Institute of Public Enterprises (IPE). He has been a speaker at various domestic and international conferences and been part of international government delegations for infrastructure and foreign direct investments into India. He has been a speaker at business school conferences held by IIMs, ISB, Wharton, Harvard and Michigan. He completed his schooling from Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai, Bachelors in Commerce from HR College of Commerce & Economics, Chartered Accountancy and an MBA in Finance and Multinational Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
